John Burroughs, the Catskill’s famous naturalist and writer failed in his attempt in 1884 to climb Slide Mountain, the Catskill’s highest peak.  In 1885 along with three friends he tried again.  Come to the talk and find out if he succeeded!  The multimedia presentation will inform and entertain you with the fascinating and humorous details of Burroughs life and hikes.

Paul Misko a Catskill historian has written many articles about Catskill history, John Burroughs, and hiking.  An avid hiker himself, he leads hikes for various groups and teaches outdoor skills.
